Health Savings Plans

The most useful time to ask questions about a discount health plan is before entering payment information. A responsible comparison should leave you with written answers about the product type, provider access, fees, start dates, household eligibility, and cancellation—not just a list of possible savings.

This is a due-diligence checklist for evaluating any offer. If you already understand the terms and want to compare the three memberships shown on this site, use Dental Plus, TeleHealth Plus, or Deluxe Plus?

1. What exactly am I buying?

Ask whether the product is insurance, a discount medical plan, a telehealth membership, or another type of service. My Health Savings Plans offers discount health programs, not insurance. The name is also not a reference to an IRS Health Savings Account (HSA), which is a tax-favored account with separate eligibility rules.

2. Where are the written terms?

Request the current membership agreement, benefit description, fee schedule, cancellation policy, and geographic availability. Read them before relying on a summary page. Save a copy of the version in effect when you enroll.

3. Do my providers participate?

Search the current directory, then call the provider or pharmacy directly. Confirm the exact office, clinician, service, and program. The FTC specifically advises consumers to verify providers rather than assume a plan is widely accepted.

4. What will I pay?

A percentage is not a price. Ask for a fee schedule or service-specific quote, and remember that provider participation and prices can change.

5. Who in the household can use it?

Get the plan’s definition of household in writing. Confirm whether each person uses the same provider network and whether age, location, or service restrictions apply. Do not assume that “family” has the same definition across programs.

6. When can each benefit be used?

Ask when membership becomes active and whether any individual service has a separate waiting or activation rule. For telehealth, confirm the connection method and availability language. For dental, prescriptions, vision, or chiropractic services, verify providers before scheduling.

7. How do I get help or cancel?

Save the customer-service contact, cancellation procedure, confirmation process, and complaint route. Avoid pressure to decide immediately. A legitimate comparison can withstand time for verification.

Use the dental cost-comparison guide or telehealth comparison for a deeper look at those categories. For questions about the site’s options, contact My Health Savings Plans.

Important: Discount health programs are not insurance and do not guarantee a particular provider, price, or savings amount. Verify current written terms before enrolling.
